The biggest post ever!

Hello friends! I know it's been a little while since we updated, but that doesn't mean we haven't been keeping busy crossing things off our list! This is going to be the biggest update yet! Hope you're ready for it!!

So we went to Jamie's the other day to try to do "The Dark Side of Oz" in which you listen to Pink Floyd's album "Dark Side of the Moon" while watching "The Wizard of Oz" and apparently things are supposed to match up. I remember doing this once in like 9th grade, but I don't think we did it right and I wasn't convinced. So we tried again, but ran into some difficulties.

We had everything ready!
The movie, which had been somewhere in my basement providing a home for a spider.
And the album, courtesy of my iPod

But there was some miscommunication between Becky and me....she thought I had the movie on DVD and I thought someone had a VCR available. Neither was true. So we tried to order it off of Comcast! But Jamie sent in her bill late, so they cancelled her On Demand. And EVEN THOUGH she was going to pay right then and there with a credit card, it would still take 24 hours for On Demand to be reactivated. Sounds like a load of crap to me. So we're going to try again soon now that Jamie's bill is paid.

But at least the kitties really enjoyed the Pink Floyd!

So we tried to do something easier.

17. Learn to whistle with two fingers

Yea, this was most certainly not easy. I think Jamie and Becky had some success. I, on the other hand, only succeeded in slobbering all over my fingers. Oh well, nobody's perfect.
Then we did something really awesome! We tried to figure out what we could do that took minimal effort and didn't require Jamie to change out of her pajamas (she was sicky :/) and decided to do:

18. Video tape yourself eating then play it backwards.
This ended up being HILARIOUS. Jamie edited the video and uploaded it to YouTube. There was some loss of quality during the conversion, but I still think you'll enjoy it.

Then we took a few days off, had to do that whole job thing, but picked it up again yesterday.

19. Squeeze a glass of fresh orange juice.

Becky did this one all on her own because I believe oranges are concentrated evil. I hate the taste, I hate the smell, I even hate orange cleaning products. So she did all the heavy lifting while I sat back and took pictures.

Evil.

Not as evil.

Releasing the evil within.

When the first attempts to squeeze the juice out proved less than productive, we decided to try a technique we learned from Oprah. See below.
This only resulted in Becky freaking out about the pesticides and wax on the outside of the orange that got in her mouth.

The orange squeezing quickly turned into a Double Dare challenge, that Becky failed miserably.

Mark Summers would be disappointed.

Becky enjoyed the orange juice, although she said it didn't really taste like orange juice that you buy at the store. Probably because they add more evil to it and we didn't have any on hand.

So while that was fun, we did something EVEN BETTER that night. We had a bonfire! Okay, fire pit. I got in trouble for calling it a bonfire, but whatever, what's the difference? We got to make spiked apple cider and roast marshmallows, so who cares?

20. Have a bonfire complete with hot apple cider.

For those of you who are friends with us on Facebook, EVERYONE WAS INVITED! We would have loved to share this experience with you, for those of you who came, Thanks! We hope you had fun! For everyone else, we hope you can make it next time!

We waited until Jamie got there to start the fire. Thank God for her, I don't think Becky and I could have gottten it started let alone kept it going all night.

I love my new camera. This was the highlight of the night for me. I have no introductions for these, they're just awesome.

So I'd say the night was a success. We had:

Spiked apple cider

S'mores

A roaring fire

Sick dance moves

 And good times

 With good people

Oh, and I almost forgot. So one of the things on my List of Things to Do is to be a Missed Connection on Craig's List. If you don't know what that is, it's where people can try to create their own serendipity by posting where they were when they saw someone they thought was cute, sexy, their soulmate, and hope they see it and respond. Who says chivalry is dead? So since I haven't had any luck yet we decided to post our own missed connection for a bartender we thought was cute when we went out the other day.
(EDIT: by Becky: Sam didn't want me to post the screen shot, but I think i was too good to not show you guys!)
We made up a fake e-mail address and we even got a response from it! I don't know if it's really him though...there's a lot of weirdos out there. So I doubt we'll really respond, or ever go back to that bar again haha, but it was fun! You should try it! Maybe you'll meet your soulmate. But probably not.  Actually, you probably shouldn't respond to anyone on Craig's List. They'll probably try to kill you, and we don't want to lose any of our readers.

Well guys, as always there's more to come from us! And we say it every time, but if you have any suggestions or want to cross something off your own list with us, LET US KNOW! We're super nice and fun! And we probably won't judge you!

So until next time, good luck exploring the infinite abyss.

Love always,
The Go Getters

"Are you sure he still plays for the team?" "No."

Hello folks! Please, don't be alarmed! We are still here and we haven't forgotten about you! Unfortunately, The Go Getters are now both officially full time employees. Members of the working world. More drones in the corporate machine. Ok, so it's not that depressing, but it does leave us with less time to do fun things. Which is exactly what we were afraid of and exactly why we wanted to start this list...so of course we'll take any chance we can get to do something awesome! Luckily, such an opportunity landed in my lap yesterday. Or rather, on my desk.

16. Go to a professional NHL game.

So, our journey began yesterday when I was at work, as Managing Editor of Delaware County Magazine (shameless plug: check us out online at delcomag.com, on facebook and on twitter!) and my boss asked if I would like to go the Flyers game that night! We get tickets for all kinds of events to give away to our readers for contests and on facebook (another reason to "like" us!) but I guess we happened to have some extra tickets so they offered them to me! Trust me, it doesn't happen often. So who did I think of immediately for my second ticket? I'll give you one guess.

So I called Becky as soon as I left work. No answer. I gave her the benefit of the doubt, maybe she couldn't get to her phone in time, and I called her again. Still no answer. It was now 5:15 and the game was at 7. If I couldn't find anyone to go with I honestly considered giving them to the gas attendant who was going to pump my gas later.  So I called my friend Megan. No answer. I called Jamie, you know Jamie, she's the one with the cats! And she answered! But, while I was giving her the details of the night, Becky called. When I hung up the phone with Jamie I called Becky back to tell her she had missed out on a great opportunity. She was pretty pissed. So she called Jamie to tell her how angry she was for not answering the phone, and Jamie, being the kind hearted and wonderful sister that she is, forfeited her ticket so Becky could go to her first professional NHL game!

And here we are! This picture had to be taken by the guy sitting behind us since we have issues and couldn't take one ourselves. lol, or it may have something to do with the free beer we got. What?! Free beer! That's right!

When we were on our way to our seats we saw a Chikie's & Pete's and since I hadn't eaten dinner I decided that crab fries was as good a meal as any. If you haven't had Chickie's & Pete's crab fries with the cheese sauce, I HIGHLY recommend you head over to the Philly area and get yourself a tub of them. Anyway, back to the free part. So we were chatting with the lady who rang us up, who we're quite positive was wasted, and I was still holding my ticket for no reason. While I was in the process of trying to get it back into my purse she asked me,
"Is there any money on your ticket?"
The looks Becky and I had on our faces must have been priceless.
Me: "What? On my ticket?"
Chickie's & Pete's Lady: "Yea, do you have a loaded ticket?"
Me: "I don't even know what that means?!"
Chickie's & Pete's Lady: "Let me see it. (Scans ticket.) Yea, it's a loaded ticket. You have $16 left on it."
Me: "Becky, do you want a beer?!"
And two beers is all that $16 got us. But still, free crab fries AND two free Blue Moons. I mean really, you can't beat that!

So now Becky and I had everything we needed to enjoy a professional sporting event. Well, except for the knowledge of what exactly was happening, but we cheered when everyone else cheered and boo'ed when everyone else boo'ed, and ultimately tried to look like we belonged there.

Halfway through the second period (that's right, I know what they're called) we went to wander around the stadium a little. We stopped at the store (I really wanted to refer to as a gift shop just now) where I bought this shirt:

I had to get this one because it didn't have anyone's name on it, because clearly Becky and I don't know who's a good player and who's not, let alone who's even still on the team. See title of this post.

And Becky pined over this hat:
So instead of heading back to our seats we wandered around the stadium and counted how many side glances we got from guys. We figured they either thought we were hot Flyers fans, or there were boogers hanging from our noses. I'm gonna hope for the first. I mean come on, check us out:

We don't care enough to actually BUY these pictures, parking alone was $15! So please disregard the "PROOF" watermark on the pictures.
Besides, we have a better one...
So that was our exciting night at an NHL game! And we decided that after Becky gets a few paychecks, and we learn some of the lingo, we're gonna start hanging out at Sports bars.

Go Flyers/Eagles/Phillies/other tristate area teams!<--- FALSE. We only root for Philadelphia teams! (EDIT: By Becky)

(EDIT: By Sam) I will cheer for any team that a large group of attractive boys are rooting for. I have no shame.

We hope you guys haven't forgotten about us! We promise there's even more to come! But until then, good luck exploring the infinite abyss.

Love always,
The Go Getters

Geronimo, look out below, here comes the brother with the offbeat flow!

Welcome back guys! Don't think that we forgot about you. There were no adventures this weekend, well not as far as the Go Getters were concerned, but we did something awesome yesterday!

15. Listen to the first cassette you ever bought.

I'm sorry, cassette? When was the last time anyone
listened to a cassette? My car doesn't even have a tape player! So finding somewhere to listen to said cassette was a little difficult. But first we had to find it, and luckily I don't throw anything away...

Got 'em!

Then I had to figure out what the first tape I bought was. Let me tell you folks, you're not ready for this one.

Oh, you think you don't remember this song? Let me take you on a journey back to 1995....

The Outhere Brothers - Boom Boom Boom

Yea....now you know what I'm talking about! But if you don't...this is the clean version. The real version is FILTHY. Had my mother known just what I was listening to she would have smashed my walkman. (Aww, the blog put a red underline under walkman like it's spelled wrong. It's okay blogger, you're too young to remember walkmen.)

Speaking of walkmen, neither of us had one, or boom box or other tape-playing antique so we went to Jamie's cause she had a bunch from an old installation project!

So, while you're listening to the best song ever, take a look at us rocking out!

Even the kitties got in on the action!

Well that was AWESOME. If I ever find my old boom box I think I'll listen to my other old tapes too. I also found a Spice Girls single! I highly recommend digging through your old boxes and wiping off the dust of your walkman and rocking out to some bands that are old enough to have had cassette tapes out. Do it! And until next time, good luck exploring the infinite abyss.

House of Cards

Hey guys! Sam's back! I'm too much of a scaredy cat for the last two things Becky did, so this update is free of fear and police involvement. Not stress though, there was plenty of stress.

14. Build a house of cards
Our first attempts were failures at best. We had four different decks of cards to try. The first were brand new, unopened panda cards from the National Zoo. Yes, they were mine. No surprise there, note the panda socks.

These cards proved to be quite a hassle. Becky had more luck than I did.

But not for long.

Then we moved on to try the cards that I got in Italy a few years ago. These, although still difficult, proved to be the most successful.

I found card-house-building to be beneath me (and extremely difficult), and instead decided to make A PANDA FLOWER!

But Becky stayed strong!

 Everything was going so well!
 But then the inevitable happened....
Damn. Life is hard.

So after watching Becky have some success, I decided to try again, although this time on a much smaller scale.
Again I faced the same hardships that Becky had faced.

Until finally, success!
A whole tower! Base, two levels and a point! It fell shortly after, but at least we have the proof!
By the way, for anyone who thinks building a house of cards isn't that hard (it is) then we challenge you to make your own! Send or post a picture of your best work! But until next time, good luck exploring the infinite abyss.

13. "Tag" a Building

¡Hola chicos! Becky, again. I was a little nervous about posting this one due to "legal issues". However, after thinking about it, I decided just to say F@*K IT, go big or go home right? I know a lot of people look at graffiti as an offensive form of expression, but I find it to be a fascinating form of protest, art, and modern culture. So, I figured it was about time that I tried my hand at this urban ritual. The first step was to find some spray paint and seeing as how I'm too broke to buy some, I raided my parents basement. To my surprise, I discovered a whole shelf of EMPTY cans. Apparently no one throws anything out in my house. Good thing Jamie is an art major! I knew that would come in handy at some point. But then I figured out that finding a place to do this, in Mullica Hill, was a lot more difficult than expected. It probably also had something to do with the fact that I'm an old lady now and have an early bedtime (so there was still a lot of people around). Every time I found a building that might have worked, I would find a reason (Mom & Pop shop, too creepy, a cop sitting down the road, etc.) to choose another spot. So, I decided to downgrade my goal to just any open area, fit for a tag. FINALLY, a spot was chosen!
I obviously had to be in my hoodrat threads
Seeing as I've never used spray paint before, besides refinishing a lamp, I ended up painting half my hand along with this messy tag.

Needless to say, I don't think I'll be trying this again. But, its nice to say I've done it.

Have anything you want to add to our list? Let us know, and help us cross it off!
So until next time, good luck exploring the infinite abyss.

xoxo,
The Go Getters
