12. Go Ghost Hunting

Ayo! Becky, here! So, one of my goals on the list was to go ghost hunting. I’ve never really believed in ghosts, so I think that’s why it interested me so much. How could someone waste so much time on something that’s not even real? And since Sam is a big scaredy cat… Jamie, Cliff, and my mom joined me for this adventure. This wasn’t just any ghost hunt, it was at the Philadelphia Zoo. A couple of weeks ago, SyFy aired an episode of their show “Ghost Hunters” on location at the Philadelphia Zoo; the zoo decided to make it a special event. So, we hopped on over to America’s first zoo to take our chances with the paranormal. After waiting for a half hour (and playing with flashlights) 

we were finally taken back to the theater in the tiger/lion exhibit where we viewed the “Ghost Hunters” episode. We then went over to the Shelly Administration Building for a meet & greet with the cast and crew of the SyFy television show. Our awesome tour guides (Brad & Amanda) took us around the zoo and showed us some sleeping animals, 

and took us into the proven “haunted” buildings on the grounds.

The Penrose Administration Building (the old vet lab building) was our first stop. Nothing special happened, but it was creepy to be in an old lab with no lights on.

The most interesting spot was definitely the Solitude House, 

which is the oldest house on the grounds (over 275 years old) and the only 

remaining house of the Penn family (founders of Pennsylvania).

Apparently, ever since the “Ghost Hunters” did their investigation in July,

the attic door has mysteriously locked and cannot be opened. So, naturally,

I was intrigued and posed in front of the door for Jamie to take my picture. 

However, while I get into position and Jamie is getting the camera ready, the door starts to flutter back and forth, banging on the lock. Now, like I said before, I do not believe in ghosts so this definitely made me start to question things. But needless to say, I screamed like a little girl and ran away, terrifying Jamie in the process.

This was also proof that Sam would not have been okay with completing this task with me. But, I’m still glad Jamie was there to cross it off the list with me; she’s starting to become a regular Go Getter!

Hello again folks! Well, as promised, we finished our task and drank champagne out of crazy straws yesterday! And we also fulfilled Jamie's request to join us while we completed it. Here's a reminder folks, if you want to assist us with anything on the list just let us know! The more the merrier! You too can be a Go Getter! As long as you don't live far away, that might be hard to coordinate. But we're open to anything! Alright, that's enough exclamation points, let us continue.

After work/school we headed to Jamie's apartment with our champagne and crazy straws. Before the fun could begin though, we had to play with the kitties!

Okay, that's enough fun. Then we got down to business. Jamie took enough pictures that I don't really have to say much. You may as well have been there.

9. Drink champagne out of a crazy straw

Then we added a little romance.

Drinking champagne out of a crazy straw is a little more complicated than you'd expect. I blame the bubbles.

Well, that was fun, but that wasn't enough for us! If we're going to get all of these tasks done we really need to do more than one a week.

10. Touch your tongue to your nose

Sure, for some this is probably simple. Unfortunately, our tongues (or noses) are not as long as others. We were unsuccessful with this task, but at least we tried! Trust me, we tried everything. 

Oh well. At least Becky had a little more success with the next task!

11. Crush a beer can with one hand. 
You know what's great about this update? There are so many pictures that I don't have to say much.

So all in all I would say that we are making some excellent progress on our list! But we have a favor to ask of our readers! One of the tasks on our list is to go on a blind date, Jamie is on the prowl trying to find some people to set us up with, but honestly we know all the same people. SO if you know any fun guys (actually, I believe fungi is the plural. ha! spelling humor.) that wouldn't mind being set up on a blind date with two fun girls, please let us know. And remember, we can't know who they are! And cuteness wouldn't hurt either.

Gone, but not forgotten

Don't worry folks, we didn't leave you! Quite the opposite, we've had a busy weekend of adventure! Now I'm going to try to get it all up here before my bedtime (the biggest difference between being an adult and being a college student that I've noticed is the reinstatement of a bedtime :/).

Lindsay came home this weekend and I showed her our list and, as you know, she added some good ideas of her own. Then on Sunday she had an even better idea! 

6. Go to the Berlin Auction

For years I've been wanting to go to the Berlin Auction, it's like a flea market, and for those of you from South Jersey, it's like Cowtown, only with more old stuff and less fake stuff. 

Lindsay's mom goes every weekend and finds all kinds of fun things, including some panda things for me! Getting to the Berlin Auction was something on my own personal list of things to do before I die so I'm pretty pumped that I finally made it, even if I did have to wake up early and it was a little chilly. But I have to say it was a successful day nonetheless. 

Also! One of the things on the list was to
7. Find a masterpiece at a garage sale
 Since the Berlin Auction is sort of like one big garage sale, I attempted to find something that somewhat resembled a masterpiece. This was about as good as I could get. Masterful, no? Well, no, but I'll keep looking!

I, however, found some masterpieces of my own. I got a new anchor necklace, silly bands (!!), a velvet underground record, a panda ornament...

AND this totally awesome ring! IT SPINS!

Becky was supposed to join us but she was busy sleeping in Delaware. Then I traded in Lindsay for Becky and went on a new adventure. This one much more serious and pretty gratifying actually.

8. Leave flowers on the untended grave of a stranger
It was kind of a gloomy day and we were a little worried that we would get caught in the rain, but that didn't stop us from buying 6 flowers from Shop Rite and heading to the graveyard.
First we visited Mike and left one yellow daisy on his grave, which is far from untended. We miss you Mikey, don't think that we've forgotten about you. <3






Then Becky picked out her stranger to leave her flower with. After some wandering she found Gertrude, who's grave was overgrown with weeds and grass. She cleaned it up a little bit and left her looking much nicer than before.

I left my flower on what I'm now fairly certain was a marker of some kind, but it was the oldest looking stone there and it confused me and Becky and we didn't want to be Indian givers and take back the flower we had already given just in case an angry ghost decided to seek revenge. So let's just say I left my flower to a whole row rather than trying to choose just one grave.

 

Then we headed to Mullica Hill to visit Theresa and leave a flower on her grave as well. 

 

Once again we tried to find some untended graves. However, this graveyard was relatively new and pretty well taken care of. So we instead looked for ones that looked lonely.

 

Afterwards, we both decided that we're going to do this more often. It may sound like a creepy thing to do, but it really wasn't. The gravestones are there so these people won't be forgotten, we just went a little further. 

Well we can't be serious all the time, so our next task we decided should be a fun one. However, instead of fun it became a long journey that we almost had to give up on. Why? Because crazy straws are out of season! Who knew?!

9. Drink champagne out of a crazy straw

The champagne was easy to find, but the crazy straw? Well, that sent us on a wild goose chase from Shop Rite to Walgreens, Rite Aid, Kmart, Acme and finally Target. Yes, TWO HOURS LATER we finally had something to show for our efforts. However, we didn't find actual crazy straws, rather a crazy straw built into and wrapped around a Halloween cup. Which, honestly, is way cooler.

We were supposed to cross that task off our list yesterday, but we got too tired so we decided we would do it today. Then Becky's stomach turned against her and decided that it didn't want to drink today (a rarity, I assure you) so now hopefully it will happen tomorrow!

I'm reading: Gone, but not forgotten

Everyone has a secret

Welcome back! So for today's adventure I was joined by the one and only Lindsaykins! And lucky for me, and you, she had a fabulous idea! For years she's been talking about how she wants to write down a secret and leave it in a copy of a Post Secret book at Barnes & Noble. And today we finally did it.

After a lovely sushi dinner and a stop at my house to write down our secrets, we headed to the only Barnes & Noble for miles around. They recently rearranged the whole store so it took a little while to find the books, but eventually we did. We tried to be discrete, but the store was kind of crowded and I'm sure people saw us and wondered what we were doing. Especially when I pulled out the camera to take pictures for proof.

I'm not going to lie to you, I was a little nervous. It's scary to put your secrets out there. I'm still a little apprehensive about posting it on here. I even considered redacting it in the picture haha. (P.S. I've had an inner battle trying to decide whether to leave the photo this size or make it smaller so it's harder to read. Lucky for Lindsay hers is already hard to read.) I'm also a bit of a worry wart, so I was worried that we would somehow get in trouble while trying to do this. But nobody stopped us or followed behind us to take them out, so I guess it's okay. And I kind of hope someone actually finds our secrets. Too bad we'll never know. Unless one of our readers tries to find it. But that would ruin the surprise. And you already know what the secrets are. So it's really not worth it. But just in case you don't believe us, here's a clue for your treasure hunt.
